Removing Varnish: Cabinet/Wood Scraper Vs. Spoke Shave Vs. Sandpaper

I don't know how every one else deals with chatter marks but I tend to remove them with a different tool. For instance if my scraper has left some chatter I will go over it with a coarse file and then the scraper again. It's just easier for me than trying to remove them with the tool that put them there in the first place.

This is my method as well. I bought two vintage spoke shaves, but I'm intimidated at thought of sharpening and setting them up.
