Removing Victorinox Camo

Just wondering if anyone knows if the camo pattern can be removed from a Victorinox Swiss Army knife. Using for work and camo might look too military but wondered what color underneath if I sanded it down?
 
Actually, for a $20 knife I got out some emery cloth and took a chance. Turned out good. Looks like ebony wood now.
