Reno Khukuri Konvention 2006

The big day is set and we are getting the ball rolling. :D Get out your daytimers and mark out Memorial Day weekend to join us in Reno. The gathering will be on Sunday May 28, 2006 at the Atlantis Casino in Reno. We will begin sometime around 9 AM for coffee and shopping :D :eek: Around 12-1PM we will have our own Danny in Japan lead us in learning a little khukuri minded Martial Arts. Sometime later around 6 PM we will have a catered dinner by the casino so we can all visit and tell bear stories. :D :rolleyes:

So plan to join us and do email me with an idea if you are even remotely interested in attending. We need a tentative head count so we know how big a room to reserve. Sounds early, but we need to get that going, so if you think you'ld like to try to attend email me at mamav57@yahoo.com and I will keep a total so we can get the room going. All the rest of the details and final arrangements will be around the 1st of March. You'll be having to make flight plans by then anyway :D

For those of you who saw my old video, that was almost two years ago and I have been training hard since then. The Khon will be 8 months or so from now, so Im hoping to be even better by then.
Don't forget to make a practice khukuri out of a white nylon kitchen cutting board.
For my part, I will be there to raise money for Ram and the kamis.
 
Danny, can you give some details of the practive khuk you want? Handle and 'blade' length; thickness, etc? Thanks.
 
Just trace your favorite khukuri on a kitchen cutting board, cut it out with a jigsaw, round the edges with a linoleum knife and wrap some tape around the handle area.
(Be careful rounding the edges, that is very dangerous work- wear gloves)
Any khukuri will work, they're all good.
 
Got it. I'll check into getting some extra cutting boards. I've got a relative in the food industry. Maybe I can make a bunch cheap. Would be fun.
 
Put me down as a "maybe". Too early to tell for sure right now but if I can I will.

I'd certainly like to attend. I'm taking Bando (Kachin forms, not ABA) and if I learn any kukri moves by then I'll share with Danny :)

I am going to give you everything I've got.
In return I only ask for two pounds of untrimmed, smoked brisket and donations to the Ram College fund.
In truth, our movement is not "khukuri" movement, but any weapon works well with it.
You may bring a stuffed animal as a training weapon if you so desire. I dare ya.

I am there! The 1600+ miles to AZ and back was just too much driving, (although the trip was definitely worth it!) but at an even 300 miles I can handle this one easy. Count me in please.

This is the one that I've been waiting for.

I've set the money aside for it but things are up in the air. We will see.

I'd give myself a 80% chance of attending.
 
BTTT to make sure everyone has seen the news. I've been keeping track of the total and we have 11 maybe's so far. :D It really does help when making reservations for rooms and all. Thanks guys.
 
I'll try to make it. Piut me down for a definite maybe. I would love to be able to put faces to some of the great posts here.
