Reno show

Me too. Also, I've been asked to write a review of "The Reno Show" for the ABS Journal so I'm hoping that if anyone there sees, hears or observes anything of particular interest, they will let me know so I can make sure to check it out and maybe include it in the review. If I recall correctly, everybody gets a name tag. Mine will say "Buddy Thomason" and I'll for sure have my big camera/flash albatross over my shoulder. Seriously, l'd love to include input in this review from folks other than myself.

This should be an awesome show, as it has been every year so far.

Gentlemen,
Where is the Reno show being held? I'm going up to Reno that weekend for the big gun guild show at the Silver Regency. I'd love to take in two different shows while I up there.

Don

Don it is at the Silver Legacy.I believe the Gun Engravers is there also.
Randy

We are two floors I think it is above the gun engravers show. Get into the show free with your other pass if I understand it.
I am looking forward to it.

Friday, and 1/2 of Saturday.

Sunday is my 40th birthday, and my wife would like me to hang out with her.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Dang I want to go. Im on the list for a table but it may be quite a wait. My wife wont let me go just to look!

I'll be there too! Looking forward to it.....In my opinion Reno is THE show of the year, a class act all the way for both table holders and customers!

What Ed just said. It really is a different kind of show. My favorite show since the first year I went.

Hey!! Any makers have knives ready for it? if so, show those pics.

I might or not go. Don Fogg isn't going this year, aand that's a big incentive gone for me. In addition, I have too many pieces at that time.

Joss- Let's be honest. He is THE incentive for you to go! :p

:D

Of course, Don is a MOST UNDERSTANDABLE incentive though! :D

I'll be there with... well, I was going to say with bells on... but it will be with a suit on. No bells. But my typical, goofy grin shall be with me, as this is and BAKCA are by far my two most favorite shows- flat-out.

As fas as "bang for the buck" in seeing a lot at a show, I don't think you could beat the ABS Reno show. Very comfortable, intimate, cozy, yet lots of stuff to see from some of the best bladesmiths in the craft.

Now if we could just convince Peter Gill, John Trevaskis, Roger Pinnock, Stephen Foster, Keith Montgomery, Ari, Doug Castor.... to make the long treck to be there! I think it safe to say, they would be in bowie heaven!!! :D

Nick,I won't be able to make it much as I'd like to.Haven't talked to John in probably 6 months, but it wouldn't surprise me if he went.He loves the big, bad, beautiful Bowie's and blades as much or more than anyone I know.Great reminder to shoot him an Email or give him a ring tonight.Mentioning my name with Peter,John,Roger,Stephen,Keith and Ari is the high point of my day!   :D Doug.

There are quite a few others - Dan Farr, Tim Hancock, yourself... What are you planning to bring?

I'm on the list but I will probally be too old to go when a table comes open.

How does that work? Do you have to be invited to sign up, or can any JS/MS sign up? How long is that list?

You don't even have to be a JS (Nick Wheeler is not a JS, for example). I believe they reward the people who committed when the first launched the show by having them keep their table as long as they wish. How tables are given beyond that, I don't know.

I'm not sure if that still applies Joss. You are very much correct though.

The first year, I had heard about the show at Blade. The way I understand the circumstances....the ABS had opened the show up to Ms's... when it didn't get fully booked by Ms's, it was opened to Js's. There were a couple spots not filled, so a couple apprenticesmith's were allowed in.

I think I am the only one that has not gotten at least a Js now. BUT!!!! That's kind of skating on thin ice. I was not eligible for Js until this last year, and as most people (here) know, did not make it to test. I will definitely be testing for Js in Atlanta this year. I think that there is such a strong AND long list of makers wanting to get in, that if I don't get my stamp soon, my position at the show could be in jeopardy.

So at this point, I highly doubt someone who's not at least a Js would have much chance of getting into it. It is 55 tables... VERY intimate, VERY comfortable.

It is an amazing show that I am both very proud, and very humbled to be a tiny part of.

You can bet your new shoes and a wooden nickel that I'm planning on being there as long as they'll have me!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Sounds like a nice show. From everything Jim Rodebaugh has told me about the show, I'll be there as soon as I can. ;)

Steven.

It is a great show, I was at the first two shows but could not make it last year due to the bad weather, I hope to make it this year. As far as tables go there are only fifty-five due to the size of the room, there has been talk about getting a larger room but nothing has come up yet on that. The only way you can get a table now is if someone gives up his table, there are over fifty on the waiting list as of now.
