Reno show

let's bump this one back up to the top. any bladesmiths out there have pics to share of the pieces they'll be bringing to the show?

it'll be my first year to attend this show, and while i can only make for friday/saturday i'm really looking forward to it!

Hello everyone,

I know this thread has been dormant for 10 days, but it seemed like the most appropriate thread to reply to.

My name is Thor and I have only posted one thread on this forum in the past. However, I have kept up with the custom knife forum for about 6 months now (shortly after I found this website).

I haven't posted much as I didn't have much to add to the threads up to this point, but I have really enjoyed a lot of the interesting discussions going on. I have also learned about many knifemakers of whom I had not heard before. It has really been a lot of fun.

I am going to the Reno show this coming weekend (I'll be there Friday). I read earlier in this thread that everyone wears name tags. Is it OK to just go up to someone whose name you recognize from the forum to introduce yourself and start chatting? :o It might sound like a weird, introverted question, but even though I don't actually know most of you (except for a couple of makers I met once or twice), I feel that I do know some of you from reading your postings here on the forum. Of course, you won't feel the same way about me due to my posting record here (or rather the lack thereof).

I have always been on my own when it comes to my interest in edged weapons as none of my friends share this passion; therefore, I am going to the show by myself. I would really like to meet people with the same interest. In that endeavor, it just seems natural to get to know those people whose comments you read almost everyday instead of total strangers.

In addition to attending the show on Friday, I am also attending the evening banquet.:)

Thor, I think it would be okay to introduce yourself and start a discussion.

Hell, I strike up a conversation with everyone at a knife show, whether I know them or not.

Of all the people I know in my daily life and people I work with, I am the only one who has any interest in knives, so a knife show is the only place you are going to find people whose brains are wired like ours.

I'll be easy to find, I'm wearin' a Seattle Tattoo Emporium bowling shirt, and I have a big, fat mouth, and it is a small room. Listen for the yelling, and it will probably be me.

Come on up and say hi, I'll have a bunch of cool knives with me for show and tell, and I'll introduce you to Randy Morgan and some of the other Forumites, and can act as your tour guide. Of the tables there, I only skip about 15 or so, you can investigate them yourself on Saturday.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson
