Oh, Rep Day is worth it. You get to meet the folks behind the knives, and the deals are awesome.

That reminds me, E, see Rose and get me one of the new Moras. Whichever one is fine.

I may try to make one day this weekend. Thanks for the heads up on the manufacturers rep weekend. I have been there before on the rep day and it is a very good time to visit SMKW. I'll try to introduce myself to you. Yeah, I skipped the Vonore get together... oh well.

Mountainmist, it is a good time to visit the store. Unfortunately at least at this point in time, SMNP is still closed.

Ethan,

Rep weekend would be an awesome thing to visit. good bbq down the road. see some of Dolly's grand tetons.

someone say new moras? whut? :D

Is Smoky Mountain Knifeworks a forum supporter?

Nope. Actualy, a competitor. But in this context, they are an event.

Rep weekend is a 2 day show that primarily allows access to many of the movers and shakers behind the knives we buy. Ethan, Toooj and myself usually work that show, repping Kabar and BKT

Mike and Jeff from ESEE. Rose from Morakniv. Peter Buck from Buck knives. Victornox sets up a build your own SAK booth. Plus, Blade Sports International does a competiton and demonstrations.

And it doesn't cost a thing.

Its a show. A marvelous show full of knives, cookware and outdoor gear.

Not deal spotting.

Awesome. Can you build an Alox Farmer with scissors?
I'm 2500 miles away and won't be making it - but that sounds like a great time.
Enjoy!

I can see where the confusion comes in, especially if one thinks there may be some malicious intent. My question was simple, I wanted to know if they were a forum supporter, and if they were, I could have posted an intelligent response to an inquiry made by a member in another thread, without getting raked across the coals for deal spotting or roolz violations. That said, even if it was deal spotting, I certainly would not be the one to challenge Mr. Becker, or any other MOD for that matter.

Atlanta you say? Well if you're around Marietta and happen to be toting one of these BK2 sheathes I hear so much about, get in touch... There's a great diner with fantastic pie.

The deal with Victorinox is if you buy one of their knives that day, they will provide the pieces to construct your own. The time I did it the only model to build was a Spartan. You have a choice of red or black scales. No substitution of individual accessories.

As I recall, there were no particular bargains to be had. It really is not a show per say. But it was really fun to meet the various manufacturers and in some cases, the designers of a particular blade like Ethan. Last time I met Robbie Robinson who designed the SOG Revolver. This is about the time that SOG switched it over to the Fusion line and Robbie was not real happy about it. You could read the signs, but he didn't say anything in particular negative.

I actually got to visit more there than I did at Blade.

SMKW is not a sponsor at Blade Forums.
