I picked up an Endura 4 and had to fix it. Here is how I did it.

Not sure it was worth the effort and $ to end up with a 1/2 usable piece. If you're happy with it then great, me however would not find such a repair acceptable unless it had a full 100% solid lock up.

lock up is 95%, I hear you though, I think it is safe enough and acceptable for use on a daily basis.

Props for trying to fix it. But you spent money on a fake, to get a knife that is crap, to not fix a knife that was kinda broken, and now isn't really any better. At what point would it have been easier to just contact spyderco, explain the situation and have them fix it, even for a cost? If you are happy with that, that's fine, but don't go blaming spyderco. Up to you I guess.

I think the better solution would have been to send it to Spyderco for repair.

Very interesting video. I think it's great that you took the initiative to fix the knife yourself. I wouldn't like spending money to support counterfeiting, but that's my own hang up. It would be awesome if Spyderco could make the parts available for you to do the work yourself, but I'm guessing that they have reasons for not doing so.

As for the lockup and the lockbar being too tall, would you be comfortable grinding on that lockbar some to solve those issues? It seems to me that the lockbar sticking too far up would be especially easy to correct. I didn't get a good enough view of the lockup to see if that's something that could be fixed with removing a little metal or not, but it might be worth looking into.

Either way, kudos for being a problem solver. It's your knife, if you're happy with it that's all that matters. If you still came out spending less than a new Endura would cost you and it's going to be a user anyways, I count it as a win.

Stopped watching after you supported counterfeiting. Amazing what some will do to save a few bucks. A new endura is what $70? You find them on the exchange for much less. Karma is a you know what. Watch those fingers!

You like things 'clean' and looking nice, yet you purchased a beater that didn't function correctly. Ok.
If you would've just sent that knife to Spydie, they would've fixed it for $20. Would've had 100% lock up, instead of what you wound up with.
You might trust a knife with up & down play like that, most others here wouldn't.
Also, you're trusting a lock bar out of a clone.
I'm confused, but if you're happy, that's cool.
