Repairing a old Kabar Texas Toothpick...

So after receiving a old Kabar Texas Toothpick (the fishing version) pocket knife, I want to save it and repair it. Nothing broken, just everything is rusted and needs lots of tlc. In order to take it apart for decent cleaning, how would I go about doing so? I understand this is not going to be easy, but its something I'd like to do, and I can't find any info online. I've carefully removed the handle scales (which will be replaced with wood ones later on), and there are 4 pins (2 per side) that hold the scales on along with the old glue. Beyond that, theres a single large pin in the center, which isn't budging to my gentle taps (not whaling on it until I find out whats what). I believe on either side of the knife in the silver ends, there are two more pins, possibly hidden under some sodder or? Either way, I need to figure out how to remove these if they are pins or I suppose they could be weird rivets. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

This is almost like doing brain surgery with no experience.
I don't suggest doing it.
There is no glue under the old scales. There is no solder on the knife. Wood is generally not a good handle material. The center pin holds the backspring down, and there are flush rivets in the bolsters.

Not to bump a old thread, but looking back through here I was wondering if this is something I shouldn't be doing, can anyone recommend me towards someone who could do it, preferably around 100 or less?
