I have recently acquired a Mike Irie ts-5 fixed blade knife. I would like to replace the micarta handle with stabilized wood. I do not want to mess with the integrity of Mikes design of the handle. So I need to find someone to take the original off and make a new one exactly like old one accept in stabilized wood. Hopefully the new maker might have resources for wood selection. Please advise, gfleet [/email] )View attachment 233945View attachment 233946

I wouldn't, either, it looks to be very well made.

Is Mr. Irie no longer working, or just plain booked up? I would strongly recommend contacting him first for such a job if he's available. The Knifemaker's Guild site lists his contact info:

(I wouldn't normally post someone else's info, but it's on the KMG site... if I'm out of line please let me know and I'll edit it out)

Anyway, check with Mr. Irie if you can. If that doesn't pan out I'll be happy to write up a quote for you.
