Replace pocket clip on LCC?

My current knife is a 9/2000 Microtech LCC. I have heard a few things about people having problems with the clip, though I have not yet personally had issues with it in pocket carry.

I didn't buy it from an authorized dealer, so I don't know if any warranty applies (I do have warranty registration card though). It also did not come with a belt pouch, which I thought about looking for.

I'm curious if it would be prudent to request a replacement (solid) clip for the LCC. I assume I would need to send the knife in, but is it worth it? Are there any problems the clips have other than the holes creating potential weak points?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey, I'm interested to find out as well. I have an LCC D/A and haven't gotten a solid clip to replace the "holey" one. I did bend the old clip one time, when it got caught on something, and haven't used it since. I'm wearing out the sheath, and it's the second one I've had. If I trusted the clip more, I'd use it. Is there a number we can call???

Call Microtech, not sure of the number off hand but I'm sure it's on their web site and tell them that you need your clip replaced. I went through the exact same thing about a year and a half ago with an LCC. If memory serves me correctly all that I had to pay was $10.00 in return shipping charges and I had the knife back in two weeks. Make sure you call first and get a return authorization number before you send them your knife..they're kinda picky about that.

I can't say what Microtech will do but just last week I called SOG to buy a clip to replace the one I bent on my Pentagon Elite II. At first I thought that I was out of luck because the gentlman I spoke with said that there isn't a part number for just the clip. However then he said well since there isn't a part number I can't sell it to you but I'll mail it to your for free. Two thumbs up for SOG!

Nothing ventured nothing gained.

When my original LCC clip bent I called
MicroTech and they just mailed me a solid replacement clip for it. They warned me to heat the screws to break the LocTite, but the process was simple enough to do myself.

Call 722-567-3058. You said "I have not yet personally had issues with it in pocket carry." If it has not broke, I don't think MT should be sending you a "spare" under warranty. If it did break, maybe they will send you a replacement. If you do need to send them the knife to repair, you are ok if it is a manual, but if it is the D/A model, they will only ship it back to you through a dealer. It does not matter that you are not the original owner, MT will fix your knife if it is broken.

Actually, that's more or less what they did for me. I'd heard about clip problems so I asked about getting a solid clip to replace the original. The folks at Microtech were kind enough to send me one "just in case". As it happened, my clip bent the day before it arrived, so I was very pleased to have the replacement!

Kudos to Microtech for outstanding customer service!

MT has no problem sending out replacement solid clips...I've gotten two and replaced the junk skeletonized ones. The solid clips are indestructable DD, no worries.
