I just got it in the mail today & replaced it immediately. It was really easy.
The new Damascus blade is made of 125 layers of 1095 carbon steel and 15N20 Nickel steel.Blade is heat treated and tempered to a Rockwell 57 to 58.
Special thanks to Grand Leavitt of snakeriverknives. He made this one a perfect fit.No sanding or alterations needed.
I love this "Twist" Damascus:D

This is some hard steel!I've been sharpening it on the sharpmaker on & off for about an hour or two.I finally got it to shave arm hair from the dark stones.I really gotta get them diamond tri-stones.
Now ,all I have to do is work on it with the fine (white) stones, then strop with some leather & it should be adequate to my standards.
Sorry I couldn't post more pics.I took about 7 pics, but photobucket couldn't upload the rest for some reason(some kind of server error?).This is the first time this happened with them.
So,what do you think of the new blade?

Thanks,

Thanks for the compliments guys.I have to admit,I was a little leary about replacing a perfectly good S30V blade with 1095,but I'm a sucker for Damascus:D

BTW,I told Grand about BF.He never even heard of it.I told him it's the most popular knife forum on the net(with 130K+ members) with members such as Ken Onion,Sal Glesser,Jerry Busse,& many more & said he should join, because he'd be an asset to the forums. The guy does great work.

FWIW,He also makes replacement blades for mini-grips(as well as others) in this Damascus.I don't know him personally & I'm not trying to market for him.I'm just very happy with his work.

Mods if this is considered SPAM,please let me know.If it is,I apologize.

Looks awesome :D

:thumbup:Thanks So-Lo,Coming from you,that means a lot:)

I'm thinking about about replacing the steel washers with teflon ones, for that extra smooth action. What do you think?

very nice... I've been eyeing his mini-grip damascus blade for some time now but I wasn't sure about the quality. It sounds like your pretty happy with yours though. Thanks for the pics and mini-review.

My one & only gripe with this blade is the point wasn't as pointy as the original, but after a couple hours of sharpening it came around.
