replacement blade?

Call Spyderco Warranty and Repair on Monday to find out for sure, but I think the odds are between zilch and less than that. I have seen a couple of other requests for Starmate blades/repairs in the past, but I have not seen anything to indicate they were successful.

Repair Information

For the following repairs, please include $20.00 plus $5.00 shipping and handling:

* Blade or Edge -- broken tip from prying or dropping, destroyed edge due to improper sharpening, loose blade from abuse, rust due to neglect or other blade issues. (Spyderco is unable to replace blades in most models)

Would rate the chances of a replacement blade for a Starmate just slightly higher than those of discovering that Jimmy Hoffa is alive and living in a retirement community in Florida.

Think Spark frowns on hyperlinks to active eBay auctions but would bet that's what the owner of the Cricket in auction #260153116735 had to pay. :D

reckon they can replace a mini manix blade?
Higher degree of probability than a Starmate blade, since the C101 is current production, while the C55 is six years dead. However, I do recall Sal once saying that on front lock models, the lockbar may need to be replaced as well since the two parts function as a unit and may be "fitted" to one another.

Even without the need for a new lockbar, I'd bet the blade alone would carry a price tag of at least $80. Add on their standard $20 labor charge for non-warranty repairs and you're at $100. So, when compared with the price some discounters occasionally offer the Mini-Manix for, not to mention the even lower prices a "gently used" one can often be found for on BladeForums, KnifeForums, and eBay, a rebuild might not really be cost effective, even if it is possible.
