replacement for HF 4x6 bandsaw yep you know how they tell you you cant over tighten one of those little buggers with the small nob on top

i did was having blade jumping off problems and gave it a nice twist turned it on and

blade jumped off and oil came out

broke the casting that the bottom when is on

ok so what are my options
i really don't want another one of them and i don't do much chop sawing with it (never cut straight anyhow)

ok looked at a clark and seems to be a better saw but i know its still cheap and i can get it yet today so i can get back to work.

anything i should look out for on one
i ll be taking apart and saving any parts of the HF saw as may some parts will interchange

Man, I just gave one away. I wish yours had broken a little sooner, you could have had it.

picked up the clark and now im back at it i need to true everything up soon but i need to cut 17 blades out

thats why the rush
seems the drive wheel for the blade has a slight wobble uin it that i ll be looking into

the cut is much smoother then im use to no dought the extra heft in the saw

I have the clarke too, been happy with it. For what it's worth, it's the exact same as the HF model. Even made by the same company. There are some differences in the 4x6 based on when it was made, but for the most part they're all the same. One of the main things that varies are the blade guides. If you're interested, do a search for "4x6 bandsaw mods" you'll be amazed about how active the internet is with advice on improving these little saws.

I have a Grizzly that's 15 years old and used daily, can't kill it.

Jet would be the best of the oriental imports.

funny part of this thread, no matter how crude or cheap, we cant live without somesort of saw that can take abuse and keep on trucking!

I am afraid to read threads like this because I am afraid I'll catch the, "Damn, my saw just broke too..." bug :)

Look for a Jet. They're made in Taiwan. Arguably, better quality and price is pretty good too.

Grizzly and Harbor Freight are made in mainland China. Cheaper, works okay, but products are like an ol' AK47. If they work, they work pretty good -and you get good bang for the buck.

P.S. Why not try replacing the cast wheel? You can download the parts manual off HF's website and it's probably $10 or less. Just call customer service. Good luck.

no no not the wheel the gear housing casting right around the bearing support i l have to get a pic for you guys
