Looking for a replacement for my lexan french press. I sometimes take this camping. I happen to think the whole BPA thing is blown out of proportion, however my fiance and I are looking towards kids here in the future, so it seems somewhat astute to be over cautious.

I use something a little bit different for coffee, but it's a setup that's gotten a lot of 'press' around here lately.

There's a stainless Guyot 1L bottle + filter lid + standard steel mug

With the above, you can boil water in the bottle, then add the mesh/filter lid with coffee in it. Just shake it around, and you've got good java.

Then there's a more direct approach, used with the guyot as well if you're avoiding lexan.

I just bought a coleman French press all stainless, very nice & rugged. its great for car camping. when backpacking I just carry coffee pods.

I had the lexan for about 5 years...finally broke on me.

I have the little Guyot filter Spooky posted. I use that in a nalgene for backpacking.

For home use and my recent fishing trip I used the stainless one I got from REI. http://www.rei.com/product/725595
It's stainlless and the handle comes off. Another benefit of the removable handle is I boiled water in it over the fire this weekend and the handle stayed cool.
