Replacement for Spyderco Gayle Bradley?

As a few have already said... if I lost my GB I'd replace it immediately with another.

Hell of a knife at an incredible price.

My GB is my only knife I have ever considered getting a backup for (and probabily will eventually), I understand wanting to get your fiends setup with good gear but I could never let my only GB go, it's just to good of a knife.

Since he's buying it anyway why not just find him a ~$100 second hand one here or on eBay, they pop up all the time, of I were you that's' what I'd do.

Hey RemyKaze - As Revdevil suggested, give the Domino a try. I recently picked up the blue scaled version and really like it. Let me know if you are interested in a test drive, happy to send it on for you to try out.

Well, he wanted my digicam PM2 as well, haha. The thing is, the GB is not in pristine condition, and was not traded to me as such(I was aware of this). It has been molded with a cutout for easy right hand access to hole and lock, but the dremel or whatever was used also bit into the lock jumping a little. Also, the edge was convexed when it came to me. I also rarely carry it, when I carry a PM2 or full size Ritter Grip every day. I don't want to part with the knife because I like it, but like many others, sometimes older knives fuel new purchases. You guys are making it tough to give it up!

Maybe the ZDP Caly 3.5 is out, but then why not consider the SuperBlue? It is available in the 3" as well as 3.5" carbon steel and it will patina, but many folks prefer this steel to the stainless. Some excellent examples occur quite often on the Exchange.

You can probably nab a Contego in that price range, or a used 581. Other than that, ZT has the lockdown on quality knives in that price range as far as I'm concerned.

Keep the GB, buy your friend a Delica or Endura.

This!!!!

I think the Delica and Endura are one of the knives that I would and have bought no matter what price. Very often money isn't indicative of how well you get on with a knife. I just sold a Sage 2 and ended up buying a $40 knife that I traded in a deal once to get a different Ti Framelock.

For the money it's hard to beat one of those Spydercos, if you are curious to try the Domino, just do it. I would personally go for the Caly 3.5 in CF though, line or no line. Outside of these CF offerings I would either want a

Not in the price range and you are getting a lot less knife compared to what's out there today. Or a William Henry offering. Also not in the same price range. It's hard seeing so many cool knives out there and wanting to try them out for sure though, totally understandable.

PS The designer of the Domino did another offering for Spyderco, the Walker CF, very cool knife!

I'd definitely keep the GB in my line up, so whether you sell em yours and get a fresh one or point em in the direction to buy his own.... The end result is, own a GB.

Okay, friend, I'll go out on a limb, here. When you said this... "I am big on a knife being a great slicer over it being "hard use", I immediately thought of this... Spyderco Stretch. 3.5" ZDP-189. Wonderful slicer.
I like the ZDP's shown here, but they are available in VG-10 also. p.s. You won't hurt 'em...and lots of folks love 'em in the kitchen.
Spine thickness is 0.119" and 0.030 or less just behind the edge.

I do understand that philosophy. I've probably had at least ten NIB. Great trading material. I've NEVER carried one however, even though I'm a great admirer of M4. I just kind of look at 'em, love 'em, and trade 'em off for something else. They are not too heavy to carry, IMO, as I'm always to be found with my Zaan or large Sebbie.

Maybe I misunderstood what you mean but that's not correct, Eric designed the Domino, its an in-house design, the C22 Michael Walker is a collab designed by Mr. Walker himself.

Thanks to the almost unanimous response of "keep it!", I kept the GB and sold my old camo PM2, which he loved. Still on the hunt for a new knife though, and you folks have been giving up awesome suggestions. Thanks for the replies!

Enzo Birk in Carbon Fiber with a flat grind (over the scandi). $115.

Excellent recommendation. I agree that the Enzo knives are the closest thing to a GB; they have both Scandi and Flat just as Barabus mentioned and the prices are right.
