While I was reading the "Lost my Farmer" thread,I was struck by Hollow Dweller saying he lost his Charlie May Swamp Oak out of his pocket. I did not want to highjack that thread, but it really got me to thinking. How many of those "had to have one" knives that you own would you replace if something happened to the one you have?
I had a Small Regular Sebenza that I loved, but I sold it,because I just couldn't keep that much tied up in something I could lose carrying it all the time. I mean,we're talking 11 Farmers here for the price of this one.
Of the four Busses I have only the NMNO would I for sure replace. Only the Ratweiler out of the Swamp Rats.
I got a Kat knife with an Orange G-10 Whittler handle from Bryan Breeden that basically replaced a four knife rotation as my every day pocket carry.
It is hands down the best knife I have ever owned for everyday cut what needs cutting, whittling, food prep, etc. If something happened to it,I would be on the puter and the phone RIGHT AWAY to Bryan for another.
What about you? I hope this makes you think about it,too. How many would you replace?
Alex

I'd replace any of my EDC's, I usually carry a SAK and then a larger locking folder.

I'd replace my SAK farmer, if I lost my cadet I would just carry the farmer instead.

I'd also replace my spyderco scorpius and my benchmade monochrome (I have replaced this after I lost one to Lake St. Claire). These are also an EDC.

I'd also replace both my JK hiker and ewok, these are my go to fixed blades.

These are the only knives that I would rush to replace.

Most definitely replace my Farmer... with the backup Farmer I have. I'd also try to replace my Scrapyard S6, but would strugle to find one. Surely my Fiddleback Hunter I am so happy with too. The others I'd maybe replace, but not necessarily with the same knife or brand.

Alex, you bet I would and have LOL. I have several already that I have
made and well quite frankly I am still making more of some of the same
ones LOL. I am putting them in different kits. I have several pathfinders, RISKs, a few peacemakers, and now this little drop point

The Final Option knives are going in every kit and then some LOL.

I will be starting on your 2 this sunday.:D

Glad to hear you like your Pocket knife as you call it LOL. I hope you
do not loose it.

Well, I certainly would replace my Millie, love that knife, as well as the RC6.
I would like to go through and buy some newer models of older knives that have just been used alot, I like flashy new things.

New knvies I want to get??:
nimravus, tanto/serrated edge.
RC4.
Benchmade 710.
One of the benchmade dive knives.
Grohamnn #4 in carbon, with a flat grind.
A BK2 and BK7 from ka-bar.

A dee ba dee, thats all folks.:D

The Farmer replaced the Case Trapper I carried. Well, the Kat Pocket knife already took over the cutting chores. I also carry a Leatherman Wave. Is it worth 2 Farmers? Probably not. But then,it does things the Farmer cannot. I'll sat this, though. The Wave is heavy. I carry it on the belt at work. The Farmer is in the left pocket(I'm a leftie) with the rest of the stuff. The right pocket is the Kat Pocket Knife,10' or so of paracord, and a a Wal-Mart Mag block with fire starter rod. Never know they're there. Just disappear until needed.

I`ve gotten smarter as I`ve gotten older. When I find some knife that I really like and use often, I get a spare "backup" as soon as possible. My favorites are the Victorinox Farmer, Soldier, and Forester. I have spares for each of those. Then of course there is the Buck 110. I`ve got about 8 of those, including custom shop versions.

I would have to replace my Vic Explorer, I have not been without one of those for 35 years. Like John, My Buck 110 is a staple of life and I always keep at least three of them around. I would have to replace my JK Hikers Back-up and Hiker as well as the the JK all purpose camper. I already have several of those for back-up. NO KNIFE has ever seen as much work as the Vic Explorer, I have it with me 24/7.

My little scandi fixed-blade EDC would definitely get replaced in a hurry. It would only take me a few hours to make a replacement.

Other than that, I think that my Grohmanns (#1 and #4), my Wave, and my Beckers (necker and BK-9) would likely get replaced forthwith if they were lost. Same goes for my favourite hiking sheath, which has been stolen before, and was replaced almost immediately.

None of these are terribly expensive knives, but I really enjoy the designs and have had good experiences with them.

All the best,

- Mike

Custom knives are awesome but the nice thing about production knives is that its easy and relatively cheap to get duplicates of favorites.
I collect SAKs but the ones i primarily carry are the Compact/Farmer/Soldier/Pioneer/Huntsman/classic, all of which i have multiples of.
Lately though i've been carrying the Victorinox Spirit so i may need to get a duplicate of that.
Also use the Spyderco Tenacious a lot, so i bought a duplicate.
I bought a large Case CV Stockman a while back and like the Tenacious thats a "where have you been all my life?" kinda knife.
I have smaller stockmans as well but the big Case just feels right. Need a dupe of this one too, lol.
And of course there is the old standby Buck 110 (3 of those plus a similar 111 and 112).
Fixed blade wise i really need to get a second 01 Enzo.
I already have two Camillus Becker Campanions which i love.

I have enough overlap in my chopper hatchet/big knife (6 inch blade +) collection so that if i lost any one model i could just use a different but similar one.
Probably could reduce the whole lot down to 2 or three and just get multiples of the Trailmaster, and a Wetterlings hatchet.

Ooops forgot Fiskars hatchets and Moras, i have multiples of those too.

I had a Schrade fixed blade model 164UH stolen. Ive been trying to replace it, but now its a collectors item and selling for over a hundred dollars. It was like a Bird and Trout knife. I bought a JK knife hoping to replace it but it hasnt. I need that pointy, skinny blade and friction sheath that hangs below the belt. Ill find a replacement some day.

If I lost my Vic Spirit, I'd order a replacement before the end of the day.

As for other knives, I'd at least consider alternatives even if I ended up getting the same ones again; there's just too much good stuff out there.
