Replacing G10 scales on folder

Hello all,

This is my first post (been a longtime lurker though).

I have a Browning Pirhana Pro(G10 scales, titanium liners and screws, ATS34 Tanto blade w/ partial serrations)that I really like. However, I'm getting tired of the G10. I was considering replacing the G10 with buffalo horn scales or maybe even stag scales (wouldn't that be differnt?). Unfortunately, the screws that hold it all together thread into the G10. I will either need to tap the new scales for threads or I will need standard pins to hold it together.

Any ideas?

Chris

Welcome Chris. I'd post this question over at the Shop Talk forum. Unfortunately, I cannot offer any guidance about tapping these materials.

But I do know mountain bikes (mtnbkr?)! Yee haw! Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I'll try over there. Yup, I'm a mountain biker. Been riding since the days of rigid forks and friction shifters.

A few days ago, I used Alta Vista to search for knife making supplies and there were a few stores out there. You can buy material to make handles but you probably have to be a craftsmen.

You might want to contact custom knife makers -- perhaps some in your area -- who can put new handles on for you.
