Replacing my lost EDC.

Hi gang. I was on this forum years ago and moved on but today I have need of suggestions.

For years I carried a Chris Reeve Large Sebenza. I had it for about 10 years and finally lost it a while back.

Since then I've carried my backup EDC, a Benchmade 710 with aluminum scales. It serves pretty well but I just want to get something new and a little different.

So I'm looking for suggestions. I don't really want another Sebenza at this point. I'd like to stay around the same size as the 710 and Sebenza. A larger knife is fine.

I want a great blade, I'm flexible on shape. One handed opening. Ambidextrous opening a plus. I'm flexible on scale materials. I don't want serrated edge. Needs to lock and I'd prefer to be able to easily disengage it and fold it one handed. Doesn't need a clip but it's fine if it has one.

Budget is $400ish.

Whatcha got?

A Cold Steel Code 4 in your blade style choice. The new steel is CTS XHP and it is an amazing knife.

Spartan Pallas. If you want something easy to unlock and fold one-handed I really don't know of anything that beats a button lock. Freeman 451 BLF would be another option.

I second the Spartan Pallas. I've gone through a lot of knives over the last couple of decades and his is one of the smoothest knives I've owned. It's large and relatively light and makes a great work knife.

I like that Spartan Pallas.

Southern Grind Spider Monkey has my attention lately as well.

Looks of good options so far. I'd add the Spyderco ParaMilitary 2 as a contender as well - CPM S30V steel, fully ambidextrous, 4-way positionable clip, blade and hardware come in satin or black, and scales come in several colorations as well:

I'd second the Spygerco PM2 as well. Lightweight and and awesome blade. I've got the camo scales and DLC blade mostly on the merits of its tactical appearance.

Another recommendation is the Zero Tolerance 0560 BW. A solid knife with an awesome blade. I've had no issues with one-handing mine open and closed. The deep carry clip makes it a truly discrete knife for EDC. Like the PM2 it's tactical appearance may scare the bejeebers out of folks in an office setting but its strength and utility are winners in my books.

In Canada the PM2 is about $200 and the 560BW is around $350, so it would fit the budget really well.

I'll third the PM2 and second the Spider Monkey. I carry the PM2 for weekend/hard use and the Spider Monkey for my office/weekday carry (not that it can't handle the harder use). Love both of them.

I'm a big fan of the spyderco szabo. its huge though. basically a folding scimitar!

I don't own this, but the brous blades sniper looks incredible.

Also, kizer makes top notch knives for a very low price. Kizers fit and finish put a lot of american manufacturers too shame. Any of these blades will leave you with extra funds left for more sharp things!

I've not handled one, but maybe a slyze Bowie or you could get a sprint run paramilitary. If you want something bigger, as you stated, you could also get a cold steel 4 max or a spyderco nirvana. $400 can buy you some very nice knives--some others may have more insight in this area.
