I've always like the look and feel of a Loveless utility hunter.
so here's my interpretation, not a faithful representation but more just freefrom use of the general pattern.
This knife handle and guard was completed in Wyoming at the shop of James Rodebaugh MS the first week of August., He provided the guard material.
This is a forged Suminagashi blade, mild steel outers, Hitachi white steel core with a full flat grind. The handle is Merino rams horn, sanded and polished. The blade is also buffed/polished for a good working finish. It has a nice tapered tang. The guard is silicon bronze. The handle is on the longer side, would be good if you wear a glove or have a large hand.
Blade length - 4 -⅜
OAL - 9 ½
Asking - $285 with kydex sheath
a leather sheath can be had at cost and adds a week of delivery time
In my opinion, the beauty of a high carbon steel core is that you can make a very keen edge, it has superior sharpness, good edge retention and ease of re-sharpening.
The blade was forged and heat treated in a water quench and then tempered by me to a hardness RC about 63+, using bladesmithing as taught to me by Murray Carter.
