I'm not sure. The webcite indicates both are carrently made from laminated VG10, but as I say these are probably 10+ years old. Were they ever made from straight VG10? Maybe somebody can chime in. I can't see any indication (faint line, etc) of laminated steels. The blades are marked VG10 as are the boxes.

I do note tho on the cite that the larger Northern Lights models have specific info on Laminated blades (VG10 between 420J2), where the A1/F1 are just simply listed as laminated. Not sure if that helps.
