Have you thought about this design with narrow fullers (matching the blade curve might not be possible) along with a hollow grind?

That said, the reduction in blade weight might then require a tapered tang to reduce handle weight. Where does it balance now, and what’s the total weight?

Sure I think all of those ideas are possible. The weight is currently at 6 ounces with a balance point right at the first finger. I like the hollow ground idea the best. With a hollow ground blade and a fuller beneath the handle to correct the balance I bet this model would be around 4 ounces and would be a great slicer. I will test that out the next time I am making a batch. Maybe in a steel that I can do a hamon on that would be sweet.
