Reputation Point System

The rep point system was an incestuous circle jerk. (But I did enjoy the occasional love notes.)

I feel neutral about bringing back the rep point system.

Haha! That's right. And like any time you get the family together for some old fashioned hillbilly love, there is always one toothless second cousin who feels left out.
 
As long as I don't get rep points off for stuff I say when I'm drunk (that some people might find offensive), it's cool with me. ('Cause I tend to be a drunk drunk, and sometimes say things that get me banned from better boards than this.) Are we talking about a system limited to the way people honor their business arrangements?

That being the case, I'd like to give two Rep Points to Guyon for completely satisfactory transactions. Now go look for them lost teeth, Rat.
 
the reason for it's removal was because it was so fraudulent. Think about it for a minute. Anyone can post good stuff, so if you have some buddies you too can be known as a good.

I never expect anyone to post anything for me in GBU, nor do I ask it. If someone deals with me and they go above and beyond I post it. However, I have gone above and beyond many times and the other party never posted anything and I did not ask and will not.

I have given away knives recently. Not only that but I actually added knives to the deal, so when the receivers opened their packages there was two knives not one, so they got two knives for the price of nothing. Do you think anything was ever posted on GBU. But then you have wheeler dealers who rape people with high prices and they get great reviews in GBU. So to me a persons reputation is based more on his way of thinking and writing in the forums and what he does and where he hangs out in here than a thread on GBU

True. I see it as just another tool to try and gauge a persons character mainly for the non sellers. One would also think that in regards to selling the more positive feedback you have in GBU the more you'd want to protect your reputation. I think that with proper supervision from the Moderators it could work again.
 
i would be so far in the hole in red chicklets for the things I have been posting the last few days, i would never be able to dig myself out.
 
I think that the good points outweigh the bad. It is good at times to have some way of verifying a person's worth ( whatever that means ) . It appears to work well on other forums and though I have only been participating a short time on this forum I would vote for a reputation point system.

John, I prefer my chiclets bigger than life and filled with helium. I want everyone to know I'm a reputation whore. :D

I don't mind the system so much, but it does have its flaws. If I'm looking at trading with someone I always look at the recent posts they've made. Let's me form my own opinion and not rely on the ratings of others.

One man's trash is often anothers treasure.

I don't care either way, but if we don't get one, use the look up feature. It has worked well for me.

Too funny! I think when they came out with the Chicklet thing the most I had was one or two.:(
 
I personally see the chicklets as a source of entertainment. If I am possibly going to do business with another forumite, I research their posts. When I do business with another forumite, I have a list in GB&U that shows who I have had good transactions with and I trust. I noticed that several people did this after the chicklets were long gone, and had to copy their wisdom.

As far as rep, I only give so much weight to what someone else is going to award another, or me. I am eccentric, opinionated and ocassionally off-color.:rolleyes: ;) When someone has had anything to say about my actions or statements, they have done so respectfully or they have ignored me. I certainly welcome both responses, but would rather have a conversation/ discussion/ debate. :D Anyhow, if the system does come back, I hope it doesn't bring the kid out as it did last time. I was as guilty as anyone, in acting like a Pez dispenser for the sake of entertainment. As usual, my $.02 given like it's worth $.50.;)
 
Eh. As was demonstrated before, the system means nothing. The potential for abuse is off the chart.
 
As far as I am concerned its to late..... My very best posts are behind me.
I only have so much to give. :D
