This reputation points thing is bull sh*t.

So..if someone has an opinion different than your own on a topic you're dinging them? And you say you don't care about getting dinged yet you find it necessary to post a private exchange between you and I out in the open. You are a hypocrite. How about not dinging negatively if you disagree?Fisher of Men said:I got over it and now I dont' care if I get dinged all the time. It used to make me mad. Now I ding people with a bad rep if I think they were a jerk in their post. I compliment them if I think they were helpful.
You seem to be making the case for not having the reputation point system. Anyone can give negative and/or positive reputation points, but you seem to think that this person somehow doesn't deserve to give you negative points. Why's that? That makes you seem kinda "sensitive" to reputation points, yourself.K.V. Collucci said:Who are you to tell me that I was too harsh in my reply?
Wait a minute. Someone gave you a negative reputation point and yet, as you say, you didn't lose any points? That sounds like there's a difference between how reputation points effect people, depending upon their status at BladeForums. Are moderators immune from negative reputation points? Oh, yes, that sounds like a really fair system.K.V. Collucci said:I didn't lose any points because of it.
Oh, FoM can ding me if he wishes but his reasoning behind why is weak. Like I said earlier ding me all you want. I know my reputation is intact on BFC whether we have the rep system or not. And you should read the Rep Point FAQs before making assumptions. I get negged from time to time and I lose a point or two. As a mod it happens all the time. Sometimes I get negged because I moved a thread to the appropriate forum. I have been here a long time and I have helped people straighten things out BFC and personally. I base my rep on that and the fact that I am willing to go out of my way to help anyone on this forum if they request it. Ask anyone....I give without asking for anything for myself.geothorn said:You seem to be making the case for not having the reputation point system. I've read the reputation point FAQ, and, thus far, I haven't seen anything stating "weak" or 'strong' reasons to give reputation points. Reputation points are a free-for-all. If someone isn't capable of expressing their opinion in a post, they are free to back-stab you with an anonymous ding. I won't stoop to that level, but there are others that have no problems with it.K.V. Collucci said:Oh, FoM can ding me if he wishes but his reasoning behind why is weak.

And you deserved those neg points. Who are you to tell me that I was too harsh in my reply? True, you can have an opinion about it but was it worthy of getting dinged for? I doubt it. I think you did it simply to be a douchebag and prove your point, which is pointless, btw. Do I care that you neg repped me? No. I didn't lose any points because of it. I negged you because you have no clue as to what you are talking about. Neg rep me all you like...I couldn't care less. averageguy has always hated the rep system. Maybe if spent more time enjoying the forum instead of starting useless threads like this one he'd get more positive points instead of spouting off at the mouth about "why the rep system doesn't work".
In post #3 I state what I use the rep system for. I suggest you do the same.

And for the record...I gave averageguy positive points for this starting this thread.
