Reputation points

Nice try, but one post count per thread, Norm. :D

Well, that drops me by a thousand or so! Like I said the other day, I think it will take me about 5 more years at my current rate to get where Munk is at right now, let alone Yvsa and some other folks.

Norm, I think it was pretty much a game for them. A lot of people didn't know they were supposed to take the whole thing seriously. I for one, didn't know until today that it was supposed to have anything to do with being a reputable/disreputable seller/buyer.

I agree with Kis: it was nice to get a private Attaboy from someone, but the numbers never meant anything to me.

And to think that I chopped up all those cans and bottles for nothing...

Someone call the waaaahmbulance. I'm going to cry. :p

I suppose that it doesn't matter. I never could give enough rep out to the folks who deserved it anyway.

You know, you're right, and maybe we were unintentionally misusing it. I mean, I thought it was great to give rep points for a really good post, but if they were just for buying and selling feedback then I guess maybe we were contributing to the problem Spark mentioned? I don't know. Hope not.

Tom, I'm sure you're right. The first part of your definition is how I always thought of the system. I just never considered that it would really be used in a commercial context.

Thinking about it, I think I feel a sense of loss because, while we don't want to make public announcements of our appreciation in a lot of cases, it was nice to congratulate or tease or just recognize some of the men and women who had posted here.

It was part of the Cantina culture for a bit; not really that long-lived, but a nice piece of the atmosphere.

. . . If you didn't know any better, you'd think I was a well respected member of the forum. :)

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving more to BruiseLeee"

We can still do that, I suppose . . .

(Great line, Bruise!)

Glad the rep thingys are gone.

Now I can go back to being just plain Nasty without fear of Bruise unloading red cactii on me.

I guess I was just out in the dark for a long time. I didn't even KNOW what rep points were until two weeks ago. I was dinking around with my User CP stuff and found them.

Wow... I missed out on all the fun :(

But thanks to those who bestowed rep points upon me :)

I just noticed my 'skin' setting is gone too. I'm going to go sit in the middle of the room and rock for a while...

Gosh. Spark said he's really disappointed in me. I guess I'll go stick my head in an oven now.

So, in an electric oven, are you going to singe yourself to death?

I'd ding you for this, but I can't.
