The version with black scales, of course, does come in plain edge.

Yes it does, but it doesn't come with the gold Titanium Nitride coating. :(

If it had, I'da been all over that suckah! :D

All the best,
Mike U.

Also, the black scaled one is AUS-6 and the Desert version is AUS-8.

I find that CRKT's AUS-6 is veeeerrrry soft.

I could never get an edge on CRKTs KFF

i'm having the damndest time raising a burr on their AUS6 prowler. it's a shame too; the thing is such a tank i can't help but use it around the jobsite.

I've got a couple of the old CRKT Lightfoot Urban Sharks in Aus6M and can get a wicked edge on them. They were a great value. I also have a couple of their knives in Aus-118 and like this steel a lot (one of the knives is a Hammond-designed titanium Mirage). CRKT also made at least one knife in ATS-34: the S-2 Ti framelock. I think there is a market for higher end steel in CRKT's line, but I'm sure they know better than I do.

I have the Kasper with AUS-8 and aluminum skeletonized handle. I like it. BTW, does anybody know if CRKT discontinued it? I no longer see it in their online catalog.

I have some of the old discontinued Zytel-handled Mirages (one large, two small...one of the small ones is a wharncliffe blade). They take and hold a wickedly sharp edge very well. I wonder if there was something different about the AUS6M on those particular knives? Those were cool knives; too bad they were discontinued.

It seems so, and it's really too bad. It's a nice knife.
