Requench 01?

Just heat treated 01 blade in little forge. Have a softer spot by ricasso. Already tempered blade, so my question is can I reheat and quench and retemper without problems?

Best condition to quench from is fine spheroidite, next best is fine pearlite. Greatest distortion comes from quenching from tempered martensite.

1250f for 2 1/2 hours will produce fine spheroidite. Heat to 1450f and slow cool in vermiculite or ashes will produce fine pearlite.

Quenching from a hardened condition should be fine. Multiple quenches from martensite will give you 1/2-1 point higher hardness.
