The rationale to keep photos and posts is historical knowledge. Value added.

Yet if the MAIN purpose of the exchange is to actually SELL a product, you have to prioritize how much of the 'value added' history BF servers are willing to uphold.

If peeling back the older photos somehow can be done, that's a logical answer. Unless it's a one-by-one process. Ugghh.

Thanks for taking feedback.

I'd say one year. My reasoning being that paid memberships are one year. A member might purchase a membership to sell items, list them that day, and something might go unsold. The listing and item(s) should remain for that time.

My understanding is that there is a problem with disk space and one option being considered to solve the problem is to clear space by deleting older image files that have been uploaded to BladeForums and attached in posts in the "Knife Exchange". I am assuming that a file uploaded to BladeForums remains independent of a particular post and is not duplicated and stored within any posts.

Based on the above my feedback / thoughts are:

When members pay to acquire storage on BladeForums it seems reasonable to me that they would have the expectation that their stored content would remain available on BladeForums for at least as long as they maintain appropriate membership.

Images can be attached in posts other than those in the "Knife Exchange".

Items posted in the "Knife Exchange" may be for a product that the member may have a quantity of and may be available for years.

What are the other options being considered?

Reasonable indeed, especially in the discussion forums and picture threads.

The Exchage is a little different as it's main purpose is to buy and sell, not as picture gallery.

Seems like this change would benefit them too, IMO.

If they want to sell their items, then it would behoove them to repost/make a new thread, otherwise it will fall into the depths of the forum.
