Request review of the Benchmade Ambush

I'm mostly interested in the locking mechanism. How well it works, if it's smooth like the Axis lock. I did handle both models at the store and I'm thinking of getting the larger one. What do you think?

Wounderbar, you have offered help to me in the past (MOD Hornet), thank you. Let me help you or at least tell you my expirences with this lock. Mine was the mini- Ambush and at first I liked the knife. But the next few days changed all that. After a few hundred cycles, the "indraft" bar broke. The lock was never as smooth as an Axis and I would NEVER get another. I did, though, really, really like how BM does the AUS 8 in their knives.

Thanks for the warning. A friend of mine just warned me about the same thing. He said that it all started with a rattle in the knife. Maybe I'll avoid this one.

I had a mini, but didn't use it enough to damage the lock. I did find the lock to be a bit gritty, and the engagement 'soft'. I could force the lock deeper by pushing on the lock stud with minor thumb pressure. I didn't care for that, as it left little room for wear with somewhat sloppy locking.
