So if there are any of you hardcore collectors out there that have both the 0801 and the 0777 I'd love to see some comparison pics and hear your thoughts on EDC with both blades.

The reason for my request is that with the LE 0801 and the LE 0777 M390 coming out, I need to allocate funds to just one of the knives since I can't purchase both.

Thanks in advance to those few of you who actually OWN both blades and are willing to chime in.

I have both the 0777 and 0801. While the 0777 has a longer blade than the 0801 (3.75" vs. 3.5") it's much lighter (4.5 oz vs. 5.8 oz). The flipper action in both are excellent. The CF grip on the 0777 is amazing and definitely better than the 0801. I'll do side by side pictures tomorrow.

I think the grip on the 0801CF will be better than the 0801 due to the CF inserts.

Obviously, the blade steel in both 0801CF and 0777-M390 will be the same M390. I'm assuming the blade thickness will be the same.

Apparently, the 0777-M390 will weigh in at 4.2 ounces and the 0801CF at 5.7 ounces.

The MSRP on the 0777-M390 is $450 while on the 0801CF it's $340!

Also, the 0777-M390 will be out soon while the 0801CF is probably a good 5+ months away.

I can also say that without a doubt you'll be completely ecstatic with a regular 0801. At a delivered price under $200 it gives tremendous value.

I have both, and I haven't carried the 0777, I have the 0801 and it is a superb folder and looks more like a 'gentleman's knife' than a fighting weapon (as when I carry my 0560) so it appears to be more 'public' friendly than some other ZTs -

Thank you for the response RamZar, I think you have a good point that a standard 801 and the 777M390 might be a way to have my cake and eat it too. If that's the case I'll aspire towards the next itteration of the 777 and wait until the 801's hit the exchange. I'll look forward to pictures if you have time to take some.

You can see from the photos that the 0777 has a substantial blade in both length and thickness. The 0777 is also wider in all aspects as you can see. Also, when you go to flip it open you need to get your fingers off of the lock bar for smooth flipping but you'll get used to it.

The pocket clips on both work very well and the one on the 0777 is nice and extra tight but makes extraction with a little more pull.

PS - I got one 0801 for $192 and another for $169 (sheer coincidence so don't ask) so it's just a matter of time before there'll be ample supplies. My top choice in regular production ZT folders (pushed my 0550BLK with CF scales into second place). It's classy (classier with titanium-colored screws, pivot and clip), beefy and great EDC. Plus, if you lose it you won't need to cry as hard. :D

777 - So delicious. I can hardly pry my eyes from the screen. I'll need a new keyboard; the one i'm using can't handle the drool.
