Smoke from Victoria.
My father went under the knife in september for prostate cancer, he was 50 and had not been getting his prostate checked as often as he shouldd I guess. It turned out that the tumor was quite large but had not made it to the edges of the prostate. They got it all and so far every bioopsy has turned up negative. He was slow for a while but hes back to carving which helps (though not his back). Every time I'm over there he has me helping hime move rock, aparently a 140lb man recovering from cancer can't move 300lb chunks of stone around easily.
Prostate cancer is somthing alot of men will some day face (aprently every man in my family has had it since it was diagnosable), but it is beatable, one of the most beatable types of cancer.
Everytime you go under hte knife its a risk but I suspect your freind will pull through. Judging by the number of posts he can call upon quite alot of karma to help him out.
