Hey folks,

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day. Here is another of my Res-Tac hawks newly available. The steel is 4140 fully hardened to Rc 55. The OAL is 11.5" and weight is 1lb 7oz. After the initial round of tempering the tang receives three additional torch draws to a spring temper. This makes for a very durable axe. The tang is tapered to reduce the the weight in hand leaving the axe head heavy. This is in my opinion essential for maximum function per swing. The handle is of brown canvas micarta taken to a grippy 120g finish then given a coat of thinned tongue oil to preserve the handles color. The sheath is of felt lined kydex. The axe has been given my primeval etched finish. Each Wenger Blades knife or axe comes with a written lifetime guarantee against breakage so you know I stand by my work. I am asking $425 shipped to the continental US. Add $10 more for international.
I accept PayPal or money order/cert. check
Thanks for lookin!
Dave

Surprised no one commented on this yet. That's probably the nicest hawk/hatchet I've seen on here to date. J'siah had some nice pieces too recently, but this hawk/hatchet is just all around class & style.

Hey Dave,

Nice design and execution. Whats the head length, bit length, and thickness? Thats a great weight for a hawk and should be a breeze to carry!

Beautiful piece! Though I'm curiouser what you intended the notch on top to be used for?

Thanks Hunter, the head length is 6.125" the bit is 3" and the thickness is just shy of .375" to answer your question jlubas the top notch was originally designed at the request of a fireman friend of mine as a gas shut off notch in the case of a structure fire. I have been told by several different firemen that this would work nicely. I have taken their word for it as I haven't been to too many structure fires lately.

Dave stopped by my shop last Tuesday and I had a chance to handle a few of his hawks. All I can say is they are a bargain for the price considering the quality and how much work is involved in making them.
