Here is my first scandi grind knife. This one is going to RescueRiley. He saw it when I asked how my scandi grind looked and he wanted it. It is made with 1095 with black and red linen Micarta handles and red liners. . So John here it is. Doug

wow.. that's a great looking knife doug... you're work is getting better and better...

That is freaking awesome... I can't wait to use it... Looks fantastic Doug, Even better than I imagined. Thanks.

That looks sweet, I love how you have contoured the handle as well !

How do you sharpen those? Do you hone that whole scandi edge or is there a secondary grind on it?

Great work Doug,

I am glad you posted pics, cause lord knows RescueRiley doesn't.:p

I'm not the biggest Scandi fan, but that one looks great. I really like the handle shape and color pattern too.

Thanks everyone so far for your compliments. I really think he will like this one. Doug

freggin knife makers! you make pretty stuff:D

Good work Doug, looks like a solid user.

You can do both. ( Not on the same knife of cause)
Scandinavians mostly use a micro bevel on it, ironically enough.
But most Scandi grinds made outside of Scandinavia is made with no micro bevel or secondary grind on it.

Nice, I like the point on that thing.

Thus far, I like to sharpen the scandi on a diamond benchstone like you are supposed to, raising the burr on each side of the knife. Then I finish it off on the sharpmaker with the white stones, flat for the microbevel. This gets it really sharp, doesn't seem to lose any of the benefits of the scandi for carving and the sharpmaker technique ensures the complete removal of the burr.
