Grinders, please and thank you.

Bearded and Non-Bearded Smiths: My name is Jonathan, and I am a member of Resilience Forge, out of Fort Belvoir, VA. We have several members, myself included who want to start building up their personal shops, so that we have places to permanently house future Resilience Forge chapters. Right now we are looking for grinders. I know that there are plenty of pretty, shinny, expensive ones out there, but we’re mostly medically retired veterans, so we would rather throw money at someone trying to upgrade, or who can build quality on a budget…also….we’re poor.

There is a knife makers for sale, on of the parts is tools and materials. Grinders themselves dont come up for sale all that often, because most of the time when someone sells their grinder they sell it to a friend looking to get into it.

I remember seeing this on one of our local news stations a while back. http://legacy.wusa9.com/story/news/...-troops-tra-madkins-jonathan-porges/18824125/. Not preaching, but these guys can use any knowledge or ideas they can get.

travelinjack, I don't know how deep you have dug into grinders, but there are alternatives to pricier grinders, like the Craftsman 2x48, Coote grinder, Grizzly and Kalamazoo, and the DIY/semi-DIY like the SLING grinder/GIB (Grinder In Box), Oregon Blademakers, etc. I'd also suggest contacting grinder manufacturers themselves, share The Resilience Forge mission statement. Unfortunately, from what I've seen grinders don't lose much value on the used market, so you're still looking at a similar cost.
