Resiprene C and Kydex

I always kinda felt that Res-C would match better with a more traditional type leather holster with a snap/ strap for retention (if at all). Kydex matches better with the slab type handles, IMO...
I had a 511 with a kydex sheath and I didn't like how the kydex grabbed the res-c.. but I love how the micarta handles "snap" in place..
Just my two sense...

You should not have any issues with the RMD and kydex.

I would agree with Kiah.
In my experience Kydex doesn't "break in" it may wear in a few spots allowing the knife to be drawn out easier.
All Res-C or rubber type handles should get a wider opening to allow the handle to be in the sheath with out tearing them up. And of course proper eyelet placement is key.

Wouldn't "wear" and "break in" be pretty much the same thing?

I do not have much knowledge with Res C and kydex but Micarta and kydex work well together.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Al, it is one of your sheaths. I ordered it and 1 for an ESEE 4 and love them both. I've been playing with the 511 in the sheath all weekend and it does feel a bit better. If i use my thumb to push off on the sheath it works like it should.

I have been making a few of my own kydex sheaths.I have not done any for Res C but a couple depending on the knife have locked in very tight just micarta or G10 against kydex. They are very hard to pull from the sheath by just tugging on the knife but very easy along with that nice snap if you push off the sheath with your thumb(the way it should be done IMO anyway)I would rather have one like this as there is a lot less chance of the knife getting knocked loose by accident.

Right, I think the best thing to do is to try it out for a couple weeks before you go through the hassles of sending it back. I have had some sheaths I thought were too tight but then after using them I found them to be perfect.

As for the Res C handles, the 311 and 711 are my first knives in Res C and the handles have a very different feel in kydex. I am not sure if I like that combo yet. They just don't click in to kydex like G10/Micarta handles do. It seems like they partially click in and partially have a friction hold.

Well i came up with a solution that fits my needs. I replaced the top rivet on the sheath with a chicago screw and placed a rubber spacer inbetween the 2 sheets of kydex. I've done this on my 511 and 711 and it works perfect! Best part is i can change the retention by simply loosening or tightening the screw.

Neat idea, I did these years ago and found that it worked ok.
