Hello Folks
I think I may have got hustled by someone overseas - not sure... but this is starting to sound weird...it's with a brand new member...

I posted a Scarab 2 for sale here and the buyer claimed it, paid via paypal F&F, and then I shipped the knife (to his "girlfriend" in New Jersey)

It was delivered without issue and then 1 week after delivered the buyer says there's blemishes on the handle and blade
his pictures
(the blemishes the buyer has pictured are not visible on the pictures i have posted for the knife)

the pictures he sent are making me nervous (i don't believe i saw those defects on the knife when I had it)

When I googled the delivery address and name it turns out it's a mail forwarding service (i had no idea of this)
I'm nervous that I'm being scammed by someone in Europe. (i'm not 100% certain this person is in Europe but I was clear in my listing that I'm selling to USA only)

I've had nothing but good transactions here on BF and I'd like to keep it that way. (I'm not a flipper. I'm here to collect knives and not rip anyone off with a messed up knife)

Would any of you good folks have advice please on how I should approach this or try to resolve this?

Thank you kindly in Advance

Let him send it back, and refund only after receipt and inspection. That's the only clean way to do it, IMO.

Thanks for the reply, Ferider

That's what my dad said I should do - and I'm happy to do this (if in the US) but nervous if this person is in Europe.
Maybe I'm worrying to much?
I'm a lil bit worried that I'll receive the knife back in different condition
also worried that if this dude is in Europe that he's not allowed ship me an auto knife.

Thank you

Strictly speaking, even in the US you are not allowed to ship an Auto across state lines .... Not blaming you, I did buy from you before, if you remember, you are a good seller ...

In any case, just let him ship it back with tracking and worry about it when it's back in your hands. Too early to worry now.

Thank you very kindly

Their customs may have also caused damage if they inspected it.

One week from New Jersey to Europe, thru customs and to final recipient? Sounds very, very fast....

I have been in contact with the buyer again and he's asked for a mere $20 from my end to pay for sharpening service.

I'm fine with this - seems like the path of least resistance to make the person happy

Thank you VERY kindly BF folks. I'm here to collect knives and the exchange has treated me well so i want to make sure I do the same.

I'll post an update once the matter is resolved

Thank you and good morning

No sir. Said it was shipping to his GF.

He should be happy you're willing to refund any money... personally I wouldn't have refunded anything and would have refused the return if and when it showed up.

Not disclosing he was using a freight forwarder is deceptive in my opinion.

This ^^^

If he wasn't upfront with you and straight lied that it was going to his GF then I wouldn't give him a dime.

Thank you
I hear that and feel that.

I'm going to oblige the dude with $20 he's asked for (the buyer has been polite in the comms about his concerns)
Thank you
Your choice you have a good reputation.

But lying isn't exactly a sign of "good faith" on the buyer.

Thank you sir! I did feel tricked. (my listing said US only)

I'll be more mindful of this next time i put a knife up on the exchange
