Hello all,
I hope this post finds you in good health and good spirits. I found this forum because of Rene Roy and his post about finding a Hay-Budden anvil. I too recently found for sale a Hay-Budden anvil and went online looking for more information about it, to learn the history of it. I found this forum through Google and was very moved by the sentiment expressed for Rene. I did not know the man, but I feel honor for him.
I recently bought this Hay-Budden anvil for my husband, who asked for one for an anniversary present. I was lucky enough to actually find an anvil for sale in my state, and I bought it. Turns out, it is about a hundred years old, but I started my journey of learning more about it after typing in Hay-Budden into Google and finding and reading a thread here, on this forum. I myself, am not a blacksmith, nor a blademaker, although I have always loved knives and have a fondness for them. I just felt a need to express my empathy for a maker lost.
My condolences.
