Well, this thread and this thread got me thinking about lung protection. I always wore either a thin paper mask or a cheap half-face mask, and googles, while in the shop - thought it was enough as I don't have a grinder...I'm working by hand with files and sandpaper. Those were very uncomfortable, but, I prefered a little discomfort to no protection.

That was before...before I received the full face 3M mask (6800). This thing is so comfortable! I received it late yesterday, and kept it on all last evening to watch TV with my wife (she was "a little" discombobulated). I scared the hell out of my kids this morning when I woke them up wearing the mask :D I found my halloween costume for this year.

Here's some pics of the thing...

If you're starting in knifemaking and wondering what kind of protection you should have, this 3M mask is a pretty good option, me think. And pretty cheap too (under $100)! Just wanted to share my joy!

It's sold in a lot of safety places...just google "3M 6000 full face respirator".

I'll send you a PM.
