Restrictive knife laws ( if there were none )

What knife would you like to edc if there were no restrictions against it ?

I think for me I'd like to edc a Shcrade paratroopers auto, that is if I had one and it was in good shape.

And while this isn't a knife I'd like to carry, it would be nice not to have to worry about weather or not my jacket is " concealing " my fixed blade in the winter.

Same stuff I carry now, because with a concealed deadly weapon permit, in my state there's no restrictions on knives.

There are some autos that interest me for sure. Top of that list is a G&G Hawk Deadlock.

I'd probably learn to (basic) flip a balisong as well and buy at least one nice one.

I like the idea of an auto, however, I have a feeling the novelty would quickly wear off and I'd find my way back to the Delica. I really dig the Kershaw Launch 4 (the little one), but they're not allowed to be carried, so I have no use for one.

No change-I like the knives I carry now & my knives are legal except for the most restricted areas.

Production: Benchmade 67 Bali-Song
Midtech: BRS Alpha Beast 3.0 [Swedge + Crowned Spine]
Custom: RoosterFish Fabrication 4V/Ti Balisong

Doesn't it suck that having this permit is forcing you to concede that your simple cutting tools are " deadly weapons " even though they only kill cardboard, tape, and paper . ?

No, because it allows you to carry autos concealed, Any blade length, throwing stars, clubs in fact it eliminates practically any law against carrying all weapons, concealed. Autos are considered a deadly weapon in my state, which means you can carry them openly, just like handguns, without a CDWP. Otherwise anything 4 inches and less , manual opening is allowed to be carried concealed no permit.

I imagine it sucks worse to be living in the many other places where obeying the law already forces that concession without the option of the permit at all.

all knives except ballistic are legal for me to use and carry where i am. i don't have any real need for a ballistic since i have guns...so i'm good.

I might carry the occasional fixed blade or auto, but cultural taboos and their potential effect on my business is more of a concern as far as what I carry than legalities are.

If I could carry what I wanted without consequence, I would probably switch to a rotation that was mostly fixed blades.

Agreed, like insipid I would move to fixed.

No knife laws in my state. I would probably move to a moderate sized fixed blade in a regular belt sheath if carrying such was more accepted by JohnQ Public.

In general, what I carry is dictated by my personal preferences in a knife in general. They tend to be within most state's blade length restrictions.

I might carry a little fixed blade of some sort, but in general I'm pretty content with what I can carry here in CA. Autos and balis don't have that much appeal to me.

Guns are a different story though, I really wish I could get a CCW here.

I'd enjoy carrying a smallsword or transitional rapier, at least from time to time.

Which part of ca do you live in ?
Because right now in my NorCal small town I'm carrying an 11" oal fixed blade.

I to have little interest in balisongs or autos ( mostly because autos are normally dagger blades or tactical ), but the Shcrade paratroopers auto just appeals to me.
Honestly if they made a standard slipjoint version I'd love to have it.

Don't forget the main gauche! Or buckler if you rock that way!

Btw, that looks like a beaut. I see it may actually be a true transitional rapier, being double edged. How long and how heavy is it?
