This is why i needed a turks head knot. The blade is 1075/1080 stock removal clayed and quenched in Houghton Quench K.
The blade is 6" and it is 11"o.a.
Handle ray skin wrapped with cotton ito.
Sheath is 8/9 oz. leather with ray skin inlay.
This has been the most illusive and frustrating knife to try and get good photos of so here are my usual poor photos.

Nice looking knife, but I would have gone through the knot again, so it would be thicker, more substantial, match the wrap better, and less "stringy."

Awesome package! I have the feeling the pictures don't do justice to the action in the steel...Looking forward to see the knife in person

Thanks guys! Lucky i was thinking that to but after all the attempts to get the first one right i called it off. Pierre you are right there is lots of activity in the hamon and i will keep trying for better photos.

Robert, nice job. The turk's head can be a pain to tie. Looks nice, 2 ways to double up the strands, either go through again (serious pain) or tie it with 2 or more strands.

Nice work ! I like it

There's been a couple knives I've made that I've wanted to try the turks head knot on, but didn't (it looks difficult :o ). If that's your first attempt, all I can say is "good job" !!

Bob, I'm curious, you've been using your Quench K for a while now. How has it been working out for you ?

:)

Thanks David this is only the second knife i have quenched in the quench k it seems to work ok i still don't have my oven done i will be able to tell you more when i can control the temps better.

You know a lightbox would help with those pics. They might still be crappy but at least well lighted. :p;)

Good looking knife by the way, can't wait to see it in person.

Ok now you hurt my feelings :grumpy:and i'm going to get rid of all the bridges between ont. and que.

Thanks for the comment Pat

i'm going to get rid of all the bridges between ont. and que.

Please don't do that Bob, not until I get that vacuum pump at least.:p

Kidding aside, sadly the media on both sides seems like there are doing a good job of burning those bridges already. Good thing that when it comes down to regular down to earth people we get along just fine.

We now return you to your regular knife viewing thread. ;)
