The Air Force was a great move for me. I was going nowhere fast after dropping out of college in the early 80s. Joined in 1985 and 36.5 years later, aggregate between military and civil servant, retired comfortably.I dig the hat not a big Air Force guybut My cousin is a Brigadier General in the Air Force, here he is in Antarctica!
My dad is 92 and served just one 4-year term in the Army, in Korea, during the Korean War but did not see action. The VA is now his primary source of health care and a godsend. He is a great man, though overly strict, and was always there for and provided for his family. As a kid, I heard the stories about his time in service - mostly of good times with friends being hellions and the rants about the frequent additional duty of being tasked to help the chow hall peel piles and piles of potatoes. I believe his MOS was an office worker. 30-40 years later, those good times he used to speak of previously have now turned to something that he does not want to talk about as it brings back traumatic flashbacks. My dad buys all the hats and T shirts and hoodies ... Anything that says US ARMY on it regardless of where it made or the tacky blurry poorly printed images all over it with tanks and stars and eagles and cheesy messages all over...

When he goes to the VA, he enjoys BSin' with all the other older veterans and talk about their time in the wars. He wears his tacky Korean War Veteran hat and will blatantly point to it for a discount whenever possible.
From my experience, the ones that actually spent time in action are humble and truly do not want the attention.
Looks good. Thank you for your serviceI finally found one that isn't over the top tacky. I hate drawing attention to myself like some do for a discount and exaggerate telling war stories.
