After edcing my D'allara at work, I have come to the realization that the ball lock isn't readily activated with leather gloves on. I really like this knife, but practicallity is my first consideration in a knife. I saw that there is a caged ball lock, and I am wondering if this can be retrofitted on my D'allara.

I imagine the caged ball lock has a similar profile to the axis lock. Having owned a few axis locks I can tell you that they aren't the easiest to close with gloves on. Especially thick gloves. The lockback and Spyderco hole is the most versatile setup when it comes to gloved hands.

Hi Nosetotail,

Nope. Can't do it. balls are different sizes, spacing is a different size. Really, two different locks.

Well, I can grip the ball between my thumb and index and close it pretty well. It's just not the motion I'm getting used to, and I have to remind myself to do it when I have the gloves on.
