But that's how the wave works. People can't quite get concept of it but it's so simple it's genius. 90% of the blade has cleared the seam of the pocket once the wave catches. The wave is so far rear set, none of the cutting edge is able to touch the pocket. Only a loose grip or serious lack of coordination would result in cut pants or hands.

Ernie saw the first one of these I did years ago and was pretty impressed.
 
charlie i thought you might like this, i picked this up off ebay from a guy who took a regular serrated endura and drilled a wave into it, and also made the blade thinner and lighter with a flat grind. it tapers to a very thin needle point.
