Return of the Outlaw!

It's always nice to see these types of posts; a hog being reunited wih their favorite Busse!

Congrats on the score!

:D :D :D

Have to say I do prefer my Ergos with the smaller butts!:D

But it goes beyond the Ergo handle for me. My favorite Busses all have severely truncated posteriors. I haven't tweaked one myself, but I buy the ones I can find.

Jules,

Did you have a regular NO-e ground with a ZTNO swedge? The blade looks too thick to be a true ZTNO. It looks great. For a while, I thought my perfect Busse would be a custom handled ZTNO like those ones Reese Weiland has done for Ronybear and others. Then I got my Puzzle Heart and I never looked back.

I'm gonna have to get my hands on one sometime and see how it feels! I don't think I could commit to doing that to any of my own blades!

When I first handled the NO-E it felt awkward when switching from standard grip to reverse grip. Not any more. But I'd still like to try out one with no butt. ;)

I kind of like a butt with some swell, especially on my SH-E, which is a nice handful. And if I need to choke back on my SH-E for some vigorous swinging, it's nice that SH-E has some additional support material back there.

Rick, I picked it up like that, I have no idea who did the mod's. It looks just like a ZTNO but the difference is the thickness. This one is about a 1/4" thick and feels great. I haven't had a chance yet to removing the butt. But in the near future when I get a little better. Then she'll be butt-less!:D

WHy do you guys like the ground-down butts?

It feels 10 times better in hand. Especially when chopping and holding towards the back of the handle for a larger swing chop ...concentrating the blade weight forward.

Get an EU-17 style handle. They are an Ergo handle variant and the butt is more or less rounded off. They feel incredible in my hand. Reverse grips feel fine also.

The Mini EU-17 is a NOe sized knife with a 1/4" blade, it should chop about as well as an NOe, possibly better because the grip allows you to choke back a lot.

The regular EU-17 is SHe sized and the EU-17 Magnum is BMe sized (Magnums are awesome, I have two!).

The ST-Ripper and BIBB also have the EU-17 style handle but they are based on Zero Tolerance blanks so they are skinny.

There are some Mojos and Mofos with the EU-17 style handle and I have heard of other variants.

Those EU handles are great. I had a regular a couple years ago and traded it away from something else, but I missed those handles. They are something of a continuation of the modified Ergos on the Terror Monkey series.
