When my grandson showed an interest in whittling a couple of months ago, I gave him my old Opinel #7 that I have had since about 1978 or 1979. This is the only pic I have of it. He was using it the other day to make some wood shavings and to turn a long piece of cord into several short pieces. Please include me.
First off, Welcome Back and thanks for this Great gaw!
My Favorite traditional can't be bought, too bad for you! I call it my BK 11.5 (eleven and a half, since it folds). It wasn't a traditional, but it is now. It started life as a Becker BK11 and I cut it into pieces to make it a fiction folder while keeping the cap lifter capability. Nessmuk inspired blade shape with the heel pulled up to aid in slicing via a larger belly.
In keeping with the requests of this thread, here are some photos of before and after.
pics will be added tomorrow to show the patina gained over a week of daily usage. I only used it for the past week since I finished it a week and a half ago.
Knife : Opinel No08 bubinga. That's my first and only knife, a user, that I bought a couple of weeks ago! Picture was taken this morning in the garden!
The slim Bubinga would be a nice brother to my Opinel no08!
