These type of posts are my favorite! It's cool knowing you grandfather hiked the same place in the 30's. It probably hadnt changed alot since his time there.
 
Great Photos! I was fortunate enough to have backpacked the Olympics about 8yrs ago. It was truly amazing. There are so many different micro-climates in that little area.( Snow covered peaks, rain forests, grasslands,ocean beach) You are right about the trees. The camera doesnt do any justice to how big they are.

Great pics, the shots are so clear. Can't beat mountains, fast rivers, and tall pines for a cool weather hike.
