Im still new to this but I already bought another!!!!- the H1 Tasman....After getting it home though, it seems a little too small for my hands....don't want to end up cutting myself.

Sadly- I think it must go back....but i will return with another!!!

Welcome to Bladeforums! :)

Typical problem, we all get bit. No matter how well you do your research, sometimes even a great knife just doesn't work for you.

One thing you might do is draw a rough outline of the knife to scale, then put your hand over the drawing and you'll get a better idea how it might grip. You could even make an actual size cutout from cardboard.

Thanks for the welcome........it's a shame i have to take it back....I really like the H1 Hawkbill design and the fact that it can be a "slasher" if needed.....but, I would rather cut what i need to rather than myself....Maybe something other spydie will pull me in the web while there for the return!!!

I guess I should restate and say that the case/handle/gripping surface (sorry don't know the proper term) itself is too small for my hand....I just can't get a good grip and it puts flesh too close to the metal for my comfort...

Since hindsight is 20/20 this is great advice. I recently bought some blades and looked just at blade length but not handle size. It is hard to gauge a knife size based on pictures alone. It is frustrating to get a blade and realize it is impractical or a bad fit. I like to see a knife in someones hand or with a ruler next to it.

After growing up with Sal's hand contour hugging handle designs, the first thing I look at is the handle. Blades are more less the same, sharp and pointy. The handles though, that is where you and the knife are joined.

There are some really phucked handles out there.
