Hello fellow Hawkmen,
It has been some time since I posted pictures of new hawks. Work, deaths in the family, my mom now fully overtaken by Alzheimers and my 6/29/12 retirement have all put hawks and other interests on hold. Thank God for an understanding wife. The last two weekends I went into a hawk frenzy and the following pictures are only a sample. As always the rising star will be filled with pewter. From time to time I do view the latest projects of you fellow hawkmen. I hope I can keep pace. The last three photos are roughed out in progress hawks.

They look almost too perfect to use, almost...

100 % agreed. I think, I wouldn´t use such beauties. Make a nice handle and put them on the wall of the living room.
Nice work!
BTW: Sad to hear about what happened in your family.

Kind regards
Andi

Drool worthy ;o sorry about your losses and stresses. Good to have a hobby to relax with sometimes!

Great looking hawks! Those spikes are very different than most, how do they compare for puncturing and strength? They look very capable, and have great geometry.

That hexagoned ballpeened lookin hawk there thingamajig looks awesome! Beautiful work.

Beautiful hawks as always. I love the star you fill with pewter. I have been trying to come up with something similar but different. Glad you are back.

Thank you everyone for looking and most of all to my hawk friends who have encouraged me these last few years and have written to me from time to time.
I now do all the initial metal removal with a bench grinder (25%). Next I draw the rough outline of my hawk. Then I remove the rest of the metal with files and when everything looks about right, I remove tool marks with emery cloth. Next comes WD 40 and 220, 320, 400, well worn 400 or green Scotch pad for a satin finish. Pewter for the star, Brownell's Dicropan blue for the final color and final rubout with 0000 steel wool. Oh, I almost forgot 100-200 pounds of elbow grease.
I now have a South Bend lathe which was given to me last year. When it is fully assembled, there will be custom warhammers. I have been working on designs so stay tuned my friends.
