Reveal 11: Manix 2 in 15V sprint run

Thanks guys, I'm really excited this is happening, it has been many many years in the making to get this to you guys.
You had to convince some folks that 15V could and would make a good knife. I had given up on it myself before even trying it which is wrong on so many levels. I'm grateful there are guys like you that haven't allowed common knowledge to keep you in your lane.

I'd bet you have already looked at sourcing some of the 18V or 20V research coupons still sitting around in someones desk somewhere like that 15V used to be. :)

I begged John Shisley (Crucible Steels President) for a small piece of CPM 20V at blade show.

He said it didn't exist because it was only made as a extremely small research melt for testing, the department that made that small melt broke off and became its own company after Crucible reorganized.

From John, sounds like 15% wt Vanadium is about the limit for making production sized steel melts of a steel like this. The CPM 15V can cause increased wear and tear on the equipment due to the high melting temperatures required among other things.

Thanks Joe, you are the man.

I'[l wait for the tests on the knives, and see if it's any better than my pair of S110V Manix 2's...

For a knife that isn't out yet, it some how got one review already. 3/5 stars.

If folks were able to snap it for $157, that is a great deal. It seems low compared to the current state of knives and how rare/new 15V *seemingly* is.
And the bad review was premised on the idea that the blade would snap in half if you dropped it ... notwithstanding the fact that toughness should be roughly equivalent to m390, per Larrin.

They ship to the dealers, the dealers put them up for sale when they get them and when they are ready.

I have no idea when a dealer will put them up or receive. I'm just giving a heads up that they are shipping to dealers based on the fact a small dealer has already sold out so keep your eyes open at your favorite dealers.

Well THAT was a feeding frenzy. And you can see why, it's an attractive price for a vanadium-crammed supersteel with BBB-branded heat treat. But enough people have them, that there are now 15 available on eBay. Regards the comment on the brown G-10 above, I believe the color is a nod to Big B_ _ _ _ Bear. I actually prefer it to zirconia inlays with mother of pearl liners.

Seriously, I've received three "in stock" notifications from two different dealers, which I responded to immediately ... only to find that they were already sold out again. Spyderco could have charged $230 for these and they still would have sold out in a heartbeat.

Probably true, and something to remember next time someone thinks their prices are getting out of line.

Can someone explain main differences beetwen Maxamet and 15V please.Toughness, edge retention and corrosion resistance.Thanks.
