This is good to hear! I'm stoked for mine to arrive. Amazing what a change of scale material can do.I was able to pick up the Subvert Sprint. For everything the knife is, with fantastic quality, the price is almost a deal considering what some knives cost.
Deceptively light given the size, great action with a very easy deployment and solid lockup. Just as easily disengaged. Can be a finger guillotine. Nice to have a different blade profile too.
It looks great with the darker cf scales. It an interesting folder, while large with some width it's hardly "tanky" like say an XM-24. I can see the blade profile useful similar to a tanto, and with the full flat grind with some recurve capabilities it'll slice all day long. This is good to hear! I'm stoked for mine to arrive. If I'm remembering right, the last Spyderco I bought was the Stovepipe, so this version of the Subvert was right up my alley. It looks great with the darker cf scales. This would be my 3rd Taichung piece and they're definitely very well put together. I have domestic folders that are near twice as much the cost and I can't say Taichungs quality is any less than theirs. It seems the more unique models come out of Taiwan, not all of course but ones people really look for. I've heard the same on the Paysan which is why I held off on the last drop not to long ago.If I'm remembering right, the last Spyderco I bought was the Stovepipe, so this version of the Subvert was right up my alley.
I used to stay away from the Taichung Spydies, which was probably the biggest error of my modern knife collecting life.
They just consistently deliver top notch build quality, although from some videos I've seen and from examples handled at the SFO, the Paysan model still needs some refining.
