My wife decided she wanted to provide a review of her EDC as well as show off her PSK (now now Doc - I'm not going to chime in about my RC-6 again)..... The rest of the post are her words...

Hi....This post is from the Mrs. I thought some comments from the perspective of a woman who hasn’t been interested in knives until recently. I’ve always relied on Ken’s EDC for any knife related tasks. With all of Ken’s travels this year I discovered that I actually need my own knife. I’m someone who previously used a paring knife instead of a chef knife for chopping vegetables because I was afraid of the size. In selecting a knife, these were my criteria:

1. I wanted a fixed blade knife because I don’t like opening and closing SAK’s. I also thought a fixed blade would be safer.

2. I wanted the knife to have a handle long enough for a secure grip, but small enough to be lightweight and fit into my psk.

3. I wanted a fun colour that looked more feminine than camouflage or army green. I wanted the knife to look friendly.

4. I wanted the blade to be stiff but not too long and not too heavy.

I chose the Breeden Kat knife. It met the above criteria. It is lightweight, fits my hand and grip perfectly and is in orange. I like the orange because it is a safety color that is easy to spot and it is cheerful. I would have liked to be able to customize the colour a bit more though—perhaps pink, purple or aqua liners, my name engraved or something else “girlie” enough so that Ken wouldn’t use it. Originally I had a difficult time deciding between that knife and the RAT 3. I’m pleased with my choice because I like the size, weight and grip better. The RAT 3 is too large for me for EDC, but I would bring it camping. I think the new Izula RAT is coming out with would also be a good choice for me.

I have found I use my knife more than I ever thought I would. Having a knife made especially for me, in a fun colour and small size allowed me to feel more comfortable and less intimidated to use it. If you are a woman and are thinking of getting your first knife, I encourage you to consider how you will feel about your knife as well as other features (e.g. size, type of steel, etc).

[KGD's Final Comments: Phew....thank Lord she doesn't like my RC-3 :) )

Its good to see a womans perspective and coments on here. I think it is great that woman are becoming more intersted in knives (and guns).
I bought my wife her first knife a few years ago. At first she was not all that crazy about the idea but now she wonders how she ever got by without one. I have bought her a couple of more but she has purchased one on her own and is looking to buy her second.

Awesome! I wish my wife was a little bit interested even but she's not that fond of the outdoors.

Great post and I'm glad to see another's wife who's interested in a quality knife. My wife actually prefers the simple Mora 2000 when backpacking and she carries her bright yellow mini Griptilian everyday. I like the little Kat knife, it might make a great stocking stuffer for Christmas:D

Great review.
Thank your wife for us.
You are a very lucky man. My wife's only interested in knives when she is in the kitchen.

Mrs. Kgd great review. I am so glad you like your knife:D When my wife Kathy aka Breedenknife girl:thumbup: came to me with her drawing of the knife that is called the Kat knife I was kind of shocked that she even was thinking of a knife for her. I thought WOW I like the the design and so we made it up and she wanted a pinkish type color handle LOL I thought oh boy LOL But when she found the wood that was a pinkish it is called Passion wood
Great name huh LOL. Well just this morning Kathy as she was heading out the door to go to her job. make sure you look on the counter she said I said ok. wondering what was going on LOL She did it again had drawing of a little knife that I am not even sure how to really describe it. It is like a warn cliff with a drop point. I think LOL. I sure when it done she will post some pics.

Rock 6 stocking stuffer now that is a good idea. LOL

Take care and chat with you later,

Bryan

very cool mrs KGD....i like hearing from the fairer sex about knives....

you should talk to my wife...i finally got her to carry the Pink delica and a ladybug....she has finally stopped asking me for a blade...she has her own...whew

Right on mrs kgd, I don't know how i ever got by without my knife either. I have liked knives for many years and i always had a folder but it did not get used nearly as much as my fixed blade knife does. I wear my kat knife around my neck and i am always using it for something....opening boxes, chopping vegies & fruit and the other day i made a fuz stick with it....It makes me feel good to know I have such a useful tool at my fingertips. I think all the ladies out there who don't have a special knife would be supprised how much they would use one if they had it...And its like a boost of confidence for us ladies. Maybe thats because there are tasks we can do with our own knife that we would not otherwise do. We would just ask our husbands to do it. Or maybe we feel a bit safer with a knife. I am not sure why, but I love having a fixed blade knife with me at all times. Just knowing I have it makes me feel good....Bryan and are working on a new design I drew up. Will post pics asap..K

Thank you, Mrs. KGD! Great review, and it's good to get your perspective. If I give you our number, will you have a talk with Mrs. Sodak?... ;)
